The Preparatory Meeting for the FIEP Summit, was held in Lisbon – Portugal, on the 13th of September 2022.
This meeting aimed at preparing the 2022 FIEP Summit, to be organized by the Portuguese Presidency, on the 26th of October 2022, in Sintra – Portugal, where the key outcomes of the work developed during the year will be presented to the General Directors and Commanders, the adhesion of new Members and Observer will be decided, and the handover of the FIEP presidency will take place, initiating a new cycle under the management of the Spanish Guardia Civil.
The Preparatory Meeting was opened by Major General Pedro Moleirinho, Chairman of the Portuguese Presidency, who highlighted some of the achievements and key takeaways of the joint work developed by the experts appointed by the Forces during the year, related to the main theme proposed by the Portuguese Presidency for 2022: “Security threats arising from Globalization 4.0”.
During the Preparatory Meeting, among other topics, the annual Common Declaration was prepared and agreed by the representatives of each Force, under the direction of the general secretariat of the Portuguese Presidency, led by Lieutenant Colonel Paulo Poiares. This document will be signed by the General Directors and Commanders during the Summit 2022.
The work program for the upcoming Spanish FIEP Presidency was also presented and agreed, focused on the general theme: “Impact of a Regional Conflict on Public Security: Response by Gendarmerie-type Forces”, as well as the calendar of commission for the years 2023 and 2024.
After the meeting the participants visited the GNR’s General Headquarters and the venues where the 2022 FIEP Summit will take place.
